• Obituary: Aledo Times, 10 Mar 1904, Aledo, Mercer, Illinois. 10
Our community was shocked by the sudden death of our fellowtownsman, Harrison Bethuram, on Saturday evening at 1:30 p.m. While Mr. Bethuram has been in failling health for a year or more, yet his death was unexpected as he had been on the streets as late as Thursday in the week, but the contraction of a heavy cold presotrated him and he lived but a short times. Mr. Bethuram was an old and respected citizen and was well known by all in our sommunity. His funeral was held on Sunday afternoon, Rev. W. H. Craine officiating, and was attended by a large concourse of our citizens among whom were quite a number of his comrages, six of them acting as pall bearers. His children have the sympathy of all in our community.
Harrison Bethuram, deceased, was born in Rock Castle county, Kentucky, on Nov. 2, 1840, and died at his home in Millersburg, Ill., on March 5, 1904, aged 63 years, 4 months and 3 days. When he was one year old he with his parents moved to Missouri, where they lived eleven years. In 1853 they moved to Mercer county, Illinois, where Mr. Bethuram had made his home ever since. In 1862 he became a member of Campany B, 126th regiment of Illinoise infantry and reamined in the sevice to the close of the civil war. At his death he was a member of the Warren Shedd Grand Army Post, Aledo.
On Oct. 16, 1873, he was united in marriage to Laura May Bridgford, who died ten years ago. Six children were born in this family, Burley B., Nancy Laurena, Daisy M., Laura Dove, Victor Harrison and Walter C. Burley died when 6 years old and Nancy when 18 years old. Besides his children he leaves to mourn his departure his aged father, three sisters, Mary Debord, Portland Oregon; Amelia Burgess, Millersburg, and Elizabeth Good, Washington, Iowa. Also a large circle of friends and neighbors by whom he was much respected. He was brought up and believed in the Baptist persuasion of faith.

Harrison also had an obituary in the 8 Mar 1904 issue of the Aledo Democrat. It's the same obit as above except it includes only the last two paragraphs. Does this mean Harrison was a Republican?
